The College of Charleston’s Emergency Management team is closely monitoring weather conditions for the College’s commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting showers with thunderstorms possible. Detailed forecasts can be found on the NWS site.
While safety is always our top priority, the College will do everything possible to keep the ceremony in the Cistern Yard. As a reminder, umbrellas are not permitted at the ceremony. Rain ponchos will be made available by the College.
Due to the possibility of inclement weather, last-minute adjustments to Commencement may be necessary, including a slight delay in start time or relocation of the ceremony indoors to TD Arena. We appreciate your flexibility and patience, and the College will communicate any changes to the event as quickly as possible either later tonight or first thing Saturday morning in order to ensure the best experience for our graduates and their guests.
Graduates will be updated via College email, the commencement app and ticket portal. College social media channels will also share additional details as they become available. Please be prepared to adjust quickly due to changing weather conditions and to follow all instructions given during the ceremony.
You may also monitor the College’s Emergency Management site.
Here’s everything you need to know about commencement, including information on the commencement app and how to watch from home.
Thank you,
