  • According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to track across Florida, along the Georgia coast and into South Carolina the evening of Aug. 30. Idalia is expected to enter South Carolina as a tropical storm, bringing 4 to 6 inches of rain and high winds. Higher wind speeds could begin midday Aug. 30.
  • The National Hurricane Center has issued a Storm Surge Watch for the entire South Carolina shoreline. A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the state’s coastal communities and some inland counties. A Tropical Storm Warning is issued when tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39-73 mph, are expected in a specified coastal area within 36 hours or less.
  • A flood watch has been issued in Charleston, coastal Colleton, Beaufort and Jasper counties for Aug. 30 and into the morning of Aug. 31. Significant flooding in Charleston is possible as the storm’s arrival may coincide with the high tide the evening of Aug. 30. Travel may be impacted by road and bridge closures.
