Update on Mumps Outbreak (February 26, 2020)

By | February 26, 2020

Dear Campus Community,

As of this morning, we have zero new cases of the mumps to report among members of the campus community.

Since the outbreak was announced in late September 2019, the College has had a total of 77 confirmed mumps cases, all of which are no longer infectious.

Pending any new mumps cases on campus, this will be the last weekly update you will receive from the CofC Emergency Management Team regarding mumps.

While we are pleased with the decline in new mumps cases over the past few weeks, we must all remain vigilant in practicing good hygiene. To prevent the spread of mumps and other viruses such as the flu, cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing; avoid sharing food, drinks and items such as eating utensils, cigarettes or vaping devices; and avoid activities that may result in saliva exposure.

For more information about mumps and additional prevention tips, please refer to our FAQs.

Sincerely,
CofC Emergency Management Team
