Free Mumps, Measles and Rubella (MMR) Vaccine Clinic for Students, Faculty and Staff (September 25 & 26)

By | September 25, 2019

In an effort to prevent the spread of mumps on campus, the College of Charleston, in partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, are hosting a Mumps, Measles and Rubella (MMR) Vaccine Clinic today on Wednesday, September 25, and Thursday, September 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on both days. The clinic will take place on the fourth floor of the Stern Student Center (71 George Street).

Here are some important tips to help you decide whether you need to be vaccinated:

  • If you have not been vaccinated with the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine;
  • If you are unsure of your MMR vaccination status;
  • If you do not have documentation of previous MMR vaccine, you should get a dose now and a second dose 28 days later.
  • If you previously received only one dose, you should get a second dose.
  • At this time, the Centers for Disease Control and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control do not recommend a third dose of MMR vaccine for those who have documentation that they have been previously vaccinated or who were born before 1957.
  • If you have a weakened immune system or are pregnant, please contact your doctor immediately.

Please note: you may also go to your physician to be vaccinated. Local pharmacies may also be able to provide the vaccine if you are 18 or older. Call ahead to confirm availability.

Students, faculty and staff should check-in at the lobby on the fourth floor of the Stern Student Center. The MMR vaccine will be made available at no cost to current students, faculty and staff who have not been vaccinated, are unsure of their MMR vaccination status and/or cannot document their MMR vaccination status.

IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF: Please bring your Cougar Card.

For those students who need to update the College on their immunization records, please upload your immunization records electronically using the College’s Medicat system – the same system you’ve been using for scheduling appointments in the College’s Student Health Center: https://cofc.medicatconnect.com/
