Please be advised that the National Weather Service in Charleston has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for the Charleston area:
Today’s severe weather potential. This afternoon (March 9, 2022) into early evening, there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in the Charleston area that could generate damaging winds (gusts in excess of 58 mph) as a primary threat. Isolated tornadoes or hail are possible, although not likely.
Severe weather is expected to enter the Charleston area by 4:00 p.m. today and is projected to end by 7:00 p.m. Thunderstorms could linger beyond this time.
Rainfall today: Rainfall amounts today are forecast at 0.5” or less. Locally heavier amounts are possible.
Rainfall Thursday morning: From Thursday early morning to mid-morning, heavy rainfall may occur. Amounts of 0.75-1.25” are forecast. Locally heavier amounts are possible.
Tides: The next three high tides should not be a factor. They are forecast well below flood stage: Weds., 12:44 p.m. (4.1’); Thurs., 1:05 a.m. (5.0’); and Thurs., 1:39 p.m. (4.4‘).
