Classes/College Activities to Resume on Weds., October 12

The College is currently working to complete its damage assessment of campus. At this time, public safety continues to patrol campus, and crews are working to repair damage and to clean up water and debris.

The College will reopen residence halls for students at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 11, with classes and college activities to resume on a normal schedule for Wednesday, October 12.

RECOVERY SCHEDULE

Monday
The College has moved into Phase Two of its Recovery Plan. Division heads will communicate with their areas to establish the make-up of Team Two, which will report to campus on Monday. Members of Team Two will likely include (but are not necessarily limited to) the following:

  • Academic leadership – deans, chairs, registrar
  • IT management
  • Insurance services
  • Residence hall staff
  • Food service staff
  • Procurement
  • Physical Plant
  • Grounds Crew
  • Financial services
  • Crisis communications team

NOTE: No faculty and staff should be on campus on Monday unless directed by his/her supervisor.

Tuesday
The College will be in Phase Three of its Recovery Plan, with all necessary student support staff, full food service, full RA staff, custodians and maintenance techs reporting to work. Residence halls will open at 10:00 a.m.

NOTE: Division heads/supervisors will communicate with their respective teams regarding which campus members should report to work.

Wednesday
The College will move into Phase Four, with all students, faculty and staff returning to campus, and the College operating on its normal work schedule.

RETURNING TO CHARLESTON
Important Note: As you make your return trip to Charleston, please understand that work crews and emergency management officials are still undertaking recovery efforts, so expect delays in traffic and services. CLASSROOMS
Some classrooms may have been affected by the storm. There may be adjustments to classroom assignments, so please monitor your College of Charleston email for any classroom changes.

MAKE-UP CLASSES
Academic leadership is currently working to address lost class time and will make adjustments to the fall academic calendar. More information to come.
