CAMPUS ADVISORY: Update on Hurricane Milton

By | October 7, 2024

Dear Campus Community,

College of Charleston officials are closely monitoring the forecast of Hurricane Milton. At this time, all class and work schedules remain unchanged. The College’s Emergency Management Team is in regular contact with local and state agencies and will update the campus community as necessary.

As Milton continues to intensify in the Gulf of Mexico, the National Weather Service in Charleston has predicted gusty winds Wednesday through Friday with rain beginning on Thursday. Please see the attached update from City of Charleston Emergency Management for the latest forecast for the Charleston area.

With any weather occurrence, you should have a personal safety plan and be prepared for potential events such as power outages, flooding and downed tree limbs. Do not attempt to drive through high flood waters. Follow directions from law enforcement, emergency responders and College officials.

The City of Charleton’s TideEye app provides updates on road closures and high tides. Please stay tuned to local news and monitor the latest updates from the National Weather Service. The South Carolina Emergency Management Division maintains valuable hurricane information and resources on its website at hurricane.sc.

Sincerely,

College of Charleston Emergency Management Team
