To ensure safety near College of Charleston construction projects, the College will implement temporary sidewalk and street lane closures.
Calhoun Street Impacts
- The sidewalk on the south side of Calhoun Street near the Simons Center/Marion and Wayland H. Cato Jr. Center for the Arts will be closed starting today, Tuesday, July 28 during demolition of a former College residence hall. The sidewalk closure will continue during the clean-up of debris associated with the demolition.
- Vehicle traffic will be impacted by a closure of an eastbound lane of Calhoun between St. Philip and King Streets from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Lane closure dates are pending.
Coming Street Impacts
- Pedestrians will encounter sidewalk closures along Coming Street between Calhoun and Vanderhorst Streets during the building removal and clean-up at the 106 Coming St. Project site.
Construction work is weather dependent, and sidewalk closures may occur during a longer window of time than originally anticipated.
The College will notify students, faculty and staff of additional sidewalk closures and/or road closures via campus email.
Thank you,
College of Charleston Emergency Management
