Campus Advisory: CofC Public Safety Arrests Suspect

The College of Charleston Department of Public Safety arrested a man who was seen driving a car on George Street near Coming St. pointing a gun out of the driver’s side window.

Public Safety was notified of the incident around 4 p.m. today (Sept. 13) by an eyewitness/victim.

After checking security video, the car was identified as a Ford Focus.  Minutes later, a suspect was spotted walking in the area of King and George St with a handgun.  When spotted, the suspect fled on foot from Public Safety Officers.  After a brief foot pursuit, he was apprehended in the Liberty Street Alley still in possession of the weapon.

He has been positively identified as the driver of the vehicle in question.

The handgun was identified as Glock Gen 3 Air Gun Pistol.   The suspect is currently being charged with two counts of Pointing and Presenting a Firearm.

No one was injured during this incident.
