Hurricane Florence Update (Monday, September 10, 2018)

By | September 10, 2018

The College of Charleston continues to closely monitor the development and track of Hurricane Florence. Models from early this morning continue to show a potential impact to South Carolina later this week.

At present, the College remains on its normal operating schedule and all classes are being held as scheduled. PLEASE NOTE: College emergency management or state officials are not stating that an evacuation is necessary or required just yet.

As always, the College’s top priority is to keep its students, faculty and staff safe.

For Faculty and Staff

Please review your hurricane preparedness plans this morning for the possibility of securing your office/work space.

For Students

Please review the Student Emergency Preparedness page at emergency.cofc.edu. It’s imperative that students complete an emergency evacuation plan form in MyCharleston. The link can be found on the academic services tab; then go to the Banner Self Service section; click on the student link and once all the options open up, there is a link to the Emergency Evacuation Plan. NOTE: the College will provide all students an evacuation option if they do not wish to travel to a safe place on their own. If you haven’t already, please discuss your possible evacuation plans with family and friends.

College officials continue to work closely with city, county and state emergency preparedness teams to track Hurricane Florence. The College will continue to update you as developments occur later this morning and afternoon.
