College Monitoring Tropical Storm Debby

By | August 4, 2024
Dear Campus Community,
College of Charleston officials are closely monitoring the forecast for Tropical Storm Debby, which is expected to bring severe weather conditions to our area this week.
No decisions have been made regarding class and work schedules. The College’s Emergency Management Team is in regular contact with local and state agencies and will update the campus community as the forecast becomes more certain.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, there is potential for historic rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 inches, with local amounts approaching 30 inches. Highest rainfall totals will be across coastal South Carolina and Georgia, including Charleston. If these rainfall totals are realized, widespread severe flash flooding will occur.
