CAMPUS ADVISORY: Campus Preparation for Winter Storm
The National Weather Service is tracking a storm system that will bring unusually cold temperatures and possibly snow to the Charleston area early next week.
The College will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
At this time, the College has not made a decision about operations and class schedules for next week. Given the uncertainty around the current weather forecast, all students, faculty and staff are encouraged to bring class and/or work materials and equipment with them prior to this weekend in the event adjustments need to be made to next week’s class/work schedules. Even if weather forces a closure of campus, in accordance with current policy, the College will prioritize maintaining academic and work continuity in a remote/virtual environment to the extent possible. Please note that residence halls and necessary support services will be provided during any schedule adjustments.
For general information about online learning during a campus closure, please refer here.
The College’s Emergency Management Team is closely monitoring the weather forecast and remains in regular contact with local, county and state agencies. The campus community will be notified through the Cougar Alert emergency notification system as soon as decisions are made regarding campus operations for next week. Stay tuned to local news and the latest updates from the National Weather Service.
Sincerely,
CofC Emergency Management Team
