The College of Charleston’s Emergency Management Team and Senior Staff continue to closely monitor the track of Tropical Storm Florence and its potential impact to the College and state of South Carolina.
College officials are in direct communication with our federal and state weather and emergency management services, and other downtown partners, such as The Citadel and the Medical University of South Carolina.
The National Hurricane Center and the National Weather Service have recommended residents of coastal South Carolina to begin storm preparations, but have also reminded everyone that the track and strength of this storm remain uncertain. At this time, it remains too early to determine where along the U.S. East Coast landfall is possible.
For students, you should be having conversations with roommates and family members about what you would do if an evacuation were to be ordered this week. For tips on preparation, please go to emergency.cofc.edu.
Please Note: At this time, College emergency management or state officials are not stating that an evacuation is necessary or required just yet. The College remains on its normal operating schedule.
College officials will provide timely updates on any changes or actions that the campus community must take. As always, our commitment to you is to make sure that we, as a campus community, all remain safe through preparation, communication and timely information and instruction.
