Dear Campus Community,
The College of Charleston Emergency Management Team is monitoring weather impacts from Hurricane Isaias.
At this time, campus operations, classes and activities remain on a normal schedule for Friday, Oct. 9 and through the weekend. Should there be any changes in campus operations and/or class schedules, the College’s Emergency Management Team will update the campus community with additional advisories via university email and on the emergency website.
While the hurricane is expected to track well west of the Charleston area, the City of Charleston has activated its Active Flood Mitigation plan. Heavy rain and a king tide cycle bring a risk of flooding Saturday and Sunday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting coastal flooding, possible flash flooding and dangerous marine and surf conditions from now through the weekend.
Please monitor the city’s WaterWise site for information on road closures and free storm parking. Additional information on tide levels can be found on TIDEeye.
Stay safe. Do not drive on flooded roadways and observe all road closures and instructions from law enforcement personnel. For campus emergencies, contact the College of Charleston Public Safety Department by calling 911. For non-emergencies, contact Public Safety at 843.953.5609.
Sincerely,
CofC Emergency Management Team
